UKMLA Exam

From August 2024 onwards, the UKMLA content map will replace the current Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) exam blueprint. All UK medical students will be required to take the UKMLA exam to graduate ( 2025).

  • The UKMLA is a two-part assessment exam like the PLAB exam. It is called:

➡️ AKT (Applied Knowledge Test)—> Similar to the PLAB 1 examination

➡️ CPSA (Clinical and Professional Skills Assessment)—> Similar to the PLAB 2 examination

  • UKMLA will replace PLAB in early 2024

  • GMC states the UKMLA exam will be similar to the PLAB 1 exam. You can create a free PLAB 1 account and try our 20 sample PLAB 1 questions with high-yield exam notes. Click here

  • It is unknown. Given that the syllabus is similar to the PLAB exam the stand can be similar and it will be a pass/fail similar to PLAB exams

  • GMC has not announced the date seats will be released. Usually, the first batch of seats is released on June/July every year and the second batch on November/December

  • Yes. It will be a pass/fail similar to the PLAB exams

  • AKT, also known as the applied knowledge test is the first part of the MLA exam.

  • Both are referring to the same exam. The correct name GMC uses for the exam is MLA. However as many refer to the exam as the UKMLA exam and we use it as a reference, to help answer their questions

  • The MLA exam will replace the UK Finals exam, and all UK medical graduates will be required to take the exam.
